Our Flag

No Between
By Ginger Hinson

Our Flag hears
The sighs of the time
Exasperation caused from
Misunderstanding, Speaking,
But not hearing pulsates
Through our country

Our flag cries
Our hearts harden before
A word is uttered . Afraid of
Empathy for the other side
Instead of united, we imagine
Villains slicing daggers at freedom

Our flag weeps
Opposite opinions become a
Sword, a scary scenario to be
Avoided. Must shut down, must
Not hear or try to understand.
Compromise is not an option

Our flag mourns
The atmosphere permeates
With either or, there is
No between, no solution.
If we rip the barriers,
Bear the pain, what then?

Our flag hopes
Could the murky veil lift?
Would we see neither side
Is fully right or have stone
Hearts? What joyful strides
If logic prevailed; hatred lost

Words

Forage
By Ginger Hinson

The healing vapors
Of your words
Your body is balm
Soothing as you
Forage through my
Past, exploring the
Now, not promising,
Yet hinting at a
Future or an illusion

The Cut

Many of my poems come from what goes on in society and are not from personal experience. The following can have two meanings. The poem can reflect the emotional process a person caught in a lie experiences. It can also be about someone who practices physical cutting as a form of release.

Cutting Image
By Ginger Hinson

Reality breaks
Shattering my frame.
Shards puncture, rips
The skin off resistance
Forcing the false self
To bleed secrets.
Pressure released,
Healing begins

Stories

Writing
By Ginger Hinson

Inspiration spirals from
A dimension beyond
My mind's capacity
Engulfing with textures,
Sensations, enlightenment
Speaking unknown truths
To awaken my inner being

The words alight
Onto thought's parchment
As though heaven opened
To reveal a glimpse of awe
Bodily atoms radiate butterflies
They flutter, excitement builds
Stories emerge, bliss exhales

The Fall

Eve
By Ginger Hinson

Mesmerized by
The serpent's lies
Promises of life, power.
Striking beyond temptation
The need seeped, poured
Into her core, yearning ignited

No choice, Just one bite,
One little nibble of sin
To open the universe.
Her teeth sunk into knowledge,
The thrill lasting a moment
Then death knew her name

The realization too much,
Burden's heavy toll pulled
With hands of steel towards
Eclipse, a darkness pressed
Upon her, she had to share.
Share the agony, desperation

Regret consumed, tormented
She handed her love the fruit
Whispering sweet deceit to entice.
Doubt abated by desire's thrall
He trusted, consuming the forbidden
Forever plunging him into despair

A Star's Last Moment

Supernova
By Ginger Hinson

Stark, intense, exquisite
The darkness beckons
Opening unknown universes
For lingering exploration

Tentative, slowly, expectantly
The breath intakes
Starbursts bathes one's essence
Besought, sureness collapses

Love One Another

Knowing
By Ginger Hinson

All is good
Unless it's bad
And the world keeps
Going, flowing, growing

You love who you love
Being who you see
Inside you, In your depth
You always know
